Jeddah (KAAB TV) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to arrive in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Monday to initiate discussions between the United States and Ukraine. The visit is part of the Donald Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to mediate an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
According to the US Department of State, Rubio emphasized President Trump’s commitment to ending the conflict as quickly as possible. He stressed the need for all parties involved to take meaningful steps toward achieving lasting peace. This was confirmed in a phone call on Friday with Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister.
In parallel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia today, where he will meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Upon his return to Ukraine, Zelenskyy will be accompanied by a high-level Ukrainian delegation, led by Andriy Yermak, Director of the Ukrainian Presidency. This delegation will include Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and military commander Pavlo Palisa.
The US delegation, headed by Secretary Rubio, will include National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. The two delegations will engage in important talks aimed at furthering peace efforts in the region.
