Jowhar (KAAB TV) – The Hirshabelle administration’s parliament has officially rejected a statement posted on Facebook by a member of its parliament today.
The Hirshabelle MP in question had published an article on his personal website, praising the Al-Shabaab group while attacking the Hawadle community, which has reportedly been fleeing to the Elbaraf area.
The Hirshabelle Parliament issued a statement clarifying that no member of the administration’s parliament has posted anything on social media, particularly on Facebook, that supports the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab). The administration emphasized that Hirshabelle is actively engaged in a tough battle against terrorism, and there is no justification for any member of its parliament to publish content that would undermine efforts to rid the region and the country of the terrorist group.
“The statement from the Hirshabelle Parliament further informed the Somali people that the Khawarij not only represent violence but also use media and other societal tools to further their agenda,” it read.
The article published by this individual, claimed to be a member of the Hirshabelle Parliament, has sparked widespread anger. Many people who commented condemned both the content of the article and the individual responsible for posting it.
