BAYDHABO (Kaab TV) — Security officers from Southwest State of Somalia announced today that they oppose what they described as a Federal Government offensive on Baidoa last month.

Two officers from the Southwest regional forces, said to be close to President Abdiaziz Laftagareen, stated that they reject the takeover of Baidoa by troops they claim were transported by aircraft.

They also voiced opposition to the planned, disputed elections expected to take place in Baidoa.

Da’uud Mohamed Abdirahman (Da’uud Jiroon), a spokesperson for the forces, said they had exercised patience for some time but that their calls for peace had not been understood.

“Baidoa is a place that has already witnessed conflict. We wanted to avoid adding further suffering to an already affected population,” Da’uud said.

“There is no district in Somalia that has invaded another, nor a region that has taken over another,” he added, describing the operation by federal forces, supported by allied clan militias, as a direct invasion.

He warned against holding elections in the city.

“No elections will take place like this. We will conduct the election ourselves, and it will be led by the local community,” he said.

The officers called for troops deployed from Mogadishu to be withdrawn and returned to their original bases.

The commander of the forces, Col. Isaaq Meedeey, also warned against incoming flights to Baidoa.

They declared Baidoa airport closed and cautioned civilian aircraft against landing in the city.

At the end of last month, Southwest State forces withdrew from Baidoa, while President Abdiaziz Laftagareen fled to Kenya.

Federal Government forces subsequently took control of the city, reportedly with support from Turkish drones and allied clan militias from Mogadishu and Buurhakaba.

The latest statements from these officers indicate that tensions in Southwest State remain unresolved, with reconciliation efforts among local communities yet to succeed.

DHOBLEY, Somalia (Kaab TV) – Jubaland officials have arrived in Dhobley town to assess the situation of newly displaced families who recently fled drought-affected rural villages.

The Jubaland Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs announced plans to distribute food rations to approximately 12,000 families in Dhobley, a town on the border with Kenya. The aid is part of a donation from the United Arab Emirates, with the first batch recently distributed to displaced families in Kismayo.

Minister of Relief and Disaster Management of the Jubaland Government, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Dhiriq, said the food assistance is intended to sustain families for one month while authorities seek additional support.

Regional officials warn that around 1.5 million people across Jubaland are affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis and urgently need aid.

Jubaland, a semi-arid region in southern Somalia, has faced recurrent droughts over the past decade, driven by below-average rainfall, high temperatures, and environmental degradation. These conditions have severely affected rural communities, particularly pastoralists and small-scale farmers, leading to crop failures, livestock deaths, and widespread food insecurity.

The humanitarian impact has been significant.

Hundreds of thousands of people are displaced each year as they leave drought-affected villages in search of water, food, and assistance.

In a leaked audio recording corroborated by Kaab TV, Mr. Hussein further admitted that he attempted to increase the number of media personalities included in the scheme. However, only a few were ultimately added, while others were rejected.

“When I arrived at the office, there were four media stations on the official payroll: Shabelle TV, Universal TV, Dalsan TV, and Somali Cable TV, as well as Hassan Adde [a local TV director]. There were also individual media personalities,” Mr. Hussein said.

“Those who are paid are now visible and doing their job. That is what I did when I assumed the role,” he added.

The admission has raised serious concerns about media independence, transparency, and the potential misuse of public funds.

He also stated that the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab, is active on social media and closely monitors online news and discussions, saying the mayor closely follows emerging narratives and developments to better understand the public discourse.

He also stated that the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab, is active on social media and closely monitors online news and discussions, saying the mayor closely follows emerging narratives and developments to better understand the public discourse.

This is not the first such exposure. Under previous Somali administrations, payments and financial inducements to individual media personalities and influencers were reportedly common practice and have been documented in various reports.

His current whereabouts remain unknown.

The strikes also targeted the central intelligence command headquarters and offices belonging to the leadership of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which the United States designates as a foreign terrorist organization.

Senior IRGC officials are reported to have been killed or wounded. However, it remains difficult to obtain verified information from inside Iran.

Although the operation had reportedly been prepared earlier, it was delayed until Saturday — a day when senior intelligence and government officials under Khamenei typically report to their offices — in an apparent effort to weaken operational capacity and target high-ranking leadership.

The offensive began in the southern city of Chabahar, where air defense missile systems were reportedly stationed. These systems were said to have been destroyed.

Iran is now facing the loss of portions of its air defense systems and reportedly has a significantly reduced supply of surface-to-air missiles.

According to reports, the U.S. and Israel appear to be pursuing a strategy aimed at weakening Iran’s overall military capabilities through sustained airstrikes, potentially followed by limited ground operations targeting senior regime leadership.

In the past, Iran’s responses to such attacks have often been delayed by several days. However, this morning the Iranian government reportedly launched missiles within hours toward Gulf Arab states and even toward Israel. This suggests that Tehran may no longer be exercising restraint, particularly regarding civilian areas allegedly struck by missiles launched from Iran.

This operation differs from previous ones, which were typically limited in duration and focused mainly on nuclear and military facilities before forces withdrew.

Although the Vice President of the United States stated that Washington does not seek a “prolonged war,” Donald Trump told The Washington Post this morning that the operation aims to bring “freedom” and “security” to Iran.

BAIDOA, Somalia (Kaab TV) — Southwest State President Abdiasis Laftagareen confirmed that two civilians were among 15 people killed during a two-day gunfight in Baidoa, the interim capital of the state, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Speaking at a mosque inside the presidential palace on Friday, Laftagareen said the violence has ended following the defeat of the militiamen by state security forces.

“No one should be allowed to violate the peace, development, and governance of Southwest State. What happened was something we have been expecting for a long time, and civilians should not be harmed,” he said.
