Somali Government Forces Eliminate Senior Al-Shabaab Member in Targeted Hiraan Operation

Somali government forces, in coordination with local security units, have carried out a successful counterterrorism operation in the Mubah area of the Hiraan region

Hiraan (KAAB TV) Somali government forces, in coordination with local security units, have carried out a successful counterterrorism operation in the Mubah area of the Hiraan region, resulting in the death of a senior Al-Shabaab operative identified as Ali Ahmed.

According to official sources from the Somali government, the operation was meticulously planned and executed with precision.

Ali Ahmed had previously been sentenced to death by the Somali military court for his involvement in multiple terrorist activities, including orchestrating deadly bombings and targeted assassinations in central Somalia.

The Mubah area, located in a volatile region of Hiraan where Al-Shabaab has attempted to maintain operational control, was the site of the decisive strike.

Though specific tactical details have not been publicly disclosed for security reasons, military officials confirmed that the operation was conducted as planned and concluded without casualties among government forces.

Security sources describe Ali Ahmed as a key figure within Al-Shabaab’s hierarchy, deeply involved in logistical planning and coordination of attacks against civilians, government targets, and security personnel.

His elimination is considered a significant blow to the group’s operational capabilities in the region.

“This successful operation is part of our ongoing national campaign to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s network and bring justice to those responsible for terrorizing our communities,” a government spokesperson stated. “The Somali government remains committed to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace and stability across all regions of the country.”

The Federal Government of Somalia, backed by international partners and local militias, has intensified its military operations against Al-Shabaab in recent years, particularly in central and southern Somalia.

These efforts aim not only to neutralize active militants but also to sever the group’s recruitment channels, financial resources, and territorial control.

This latest operation in Hiraan underscores Somalia’s broader strategy to reclaim territory from extremist elements and to strengthen the rule of law.

The government has reiterated its resolve to continue such operations until Al-Shabaab is fully dismantled and peace is restored to all Somali regions.

The international community has welcomed the Somali government’s ongoing efforts, with several allies pledging continued support in intelligence sharing, capacity building, and humanitarian assistance for regions affected by conflict.

As the campaign against terrorism continues, Somali authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security forces by reporting suspicious activities and standing united against extremism.
