Head of Turkish Firm Favori LLC and Aide Arrested Over Alleged Abuse of Somali Employees

MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – The head of Favori LLC and an aide were arrested on Sunday at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport over alleged management accountability failures, an airport official told Kaab TV.

Favori LLC is a Turkish firm operating under the Kozuva Group, which has managed ground handling, terminal services, airport and port operations in Mogadishu since 2013.

The two were held at the airport following their arrest, but were subsequently released after Somalia’s Ports Minister — who is said to maintain close ties with Turkey — intervened on their behalf, sources told Kaab TV.

In an official statement, Favori LLC distanced itself from the incident, claiming the matter was unrelated to the company.

The arrests come amid a broader pattern of controversy surrounding the Turkish firm.

Favori LLC has repeatedly faced accusations of mistreating Somali employees, including women working at the airport.

Somali workers at the port have also staged protests over unfair dismissals and low wages, raising longstanding concerns about the company’s labour practices.
