Banadir Regional Police Arrest Soldier Accused of Killing Young Man Bound for the United States

MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – The Command of the Banadir Regional Police has presented a soldier from the government security forces who is accused of killing a young man in Dayniile District of Mogadishu on Tuesday night. The victim was a motorcycle (bajaj) driver.

The suspect, who was arrested by police forces operating in Dayniile District, has been identified as Abdullahi Ahmed Geedi.

He is accused of killing Abdirisaq Abukar Mohamed. The victim’s body has not yet been buried and remains at the mortuary.

In a written statement, the Banadir Regional Police Command said the suspect will be swiftly brought before justice.

“The Somali Police Force, Dayniile District Police Station, has arrested suspect Sgt. Abdullahi Ahmed Geedi, who is accused of killing the late Abdirisaq Abukar Mohamed, a bajaj driver, in Dayniile District.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will be referred to the competent court,” the statement said.

The police said the suspect is accused of killing a young man who was reportedly preparing to travel to the United States with his wife, after they were among the thousands of people selected through the U.S. Diversity Visa (Lottery) Program, which offers opportunities each year to people from around the world.
