Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamud Ahmed Adan (Geesood), held a significant meeting on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Somalia, Alper Aktas, at the ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
The discussions centered on ways to enhance economic cooperation and explore new areas of mutual interest between the two nations.
During the meeting, Minister Geesood and Ambassador Aktas engaged in detailed talks on strengthening bilateral trade relations, promoting investment opportunities, and expanding industrial collaboration.
The two sides emphasized the importance of developing practical and sustainable strategies that would further consolidate the long-standing partnership between Somalia and Türkiye.
Minister Geesood highlighted that a strong and mutually beneficial economic partnership is crucial for Somalia’s continued progress, especially as the nation works to expand its domestic industries, create employment opportunities, and attract foreign investment.
He underscored that Türkiye’s experience in industrial development, manufacturing, and trade could play a pivotal role in supporting Somalia’s economic transformation agenda.
Ambassador Aktas reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia’s development goals, noting that the two nations share deep historical, cultural, and economic ties.
He expressed Türkiye’s readiness to continue collaborating with the Somali government to enhance trade facilitation, encourage private sector engagement, and promote sustainable growth.
Both officials agreed to strengthen coordination between their respective institutions to ensure the effective implementation of joint initiatives and to build a more resilient and diversified economic partnership.
Over the past decade, Türkiye and Somalia have developed a comprehensive partnership encompassing key areas such as security, defense, trade, infrastructure, and education.
Türkiye has been one of Somalia’s most consistent allies, contributing to the country’s reconstruction and development through humanitarian aid, capacity-building programs, and large-scale investments.
