Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced the successful elimination of a senior Al-Shabaab commander responsible for orchestrating mortar attacks in Mogadishu since 2023. The operation was carried out by Somali Army Special Forces during a planned nighttime raid.
According to the official NISA statement, the operation took place in the Sabeed area of the Lower Shabelle region. Although the identity of the militant leader was not disclosed, NISA confirmed that he and all his bodyguards were killed in the strike.
“NISA forces, who had been closely monitoring the movements of the Al-Shabaab leader, confirmed the intelligence before launching the operation. All the militants guarding him were neutralized on site,” the agency said in its press release.
Additionally, NISA reported that 46 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in six separate airstrikes in the El Hareri area of the Hiran region, carried out between yesterday and last night.
These recent operations come as the Commander of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency, Abdullahi Mohamed Ali “Sambaloolshe,” has been present on the front lines in Hiran for the past two days, overseeing and supporting the ongoing military campaign.
