Washington (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Badr Abdelatty, told the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, on Monday that the Arab states support the Palestinian position in rejecting the plan of US President Donald Trump, which aims to displace the Palestinians in Gaza and control the passage.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that Abdelatty, in his meeting with Rubio in Washington, stressed the importance of speeding up the reconstruction of Gaza while the Palestinians are still in their land.
Abdelatty, who arrived in Washington on Sunday, said he hopes to work with the new US administration to achieve “complete peace and stability based on justice” in the region, according to a ministry statement.
The minister also held a special meeting with the US representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, who reiterated Egypt’s position in support of the Palestinians.
Any suggestion that the Palestinians leave Gaza—which they see as part of their desired independent state—has long been rejected by the Palestinian leadership, and has also been openly rejected by Arab governments since the Gaza war began in 2023.
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to unite in support of the Palestinians and work to correct “historical injustices” and restore their “irrevocable legal rights.”
