JOWHAR (KAAB TV) – Tragic reports from Jowhar, the capital of the Middle Shabelle region, confirm that Dr. Mohamed Abdi Ali, commonly known as Dr. Ghalib, was killed last night by an unidentified armed group. Dr. Ghalib served as the Director of the Religious Affairs Department within the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Hirshabelle Regional Government.
Eyewitnesses state that the attackers fled the scene immediately after the assassination. Security forces have since launched an investigation and are actively searching for those responsible.
Dr. Ghalib, a respected young scholar, also had a background in healthcare and was involved with several medical centers. In recent days, he had been leading community outreach and awareness campaigns at schools and universities in the Jowhar District, promoting civic responsibility and resilience against destabilizing forces.
Ali Osman Ibrahim (Ali Ailey), Member of Parliament and Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Hirshabelle, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. In an official statement, he extended heartfelt condolences to Dr. Ghalib’s family, colleagues, and the wider ministry staff. The minister also directed security agencies to expedite their efforts in apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring justice is served.
The motive behind the murder remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
