MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – The two Houses of the Somali Parliament, which were on a two-month vacation, are expected to open today for the 6th Session, which is different and tougher than the previous ones, as decisions will be made on fateful issues.
In the 5th session of the Parliament, they focused on the review of the Constitution and how to direct the country to an election of people and votes. Four chapters of the country’s Constitution have been enacted.
While the members of the House of Representatives were on vacation, the chairmen of the two houses held meetings to discuss the revision of the Constitution, especially Chapter 5 to Chapter 9, which is under the control of the Constitution Committee.
The 6th Session will begin, with 22 MPs from the House of People, who are accused of violating the laws of the Parliament during the voting and approval of the direction of the election of a person and a vote on November 27, 2024.
Political analysts point out that this sixth session is important, and it is expected that the parliament will take decisive steps that will affect the country, such as speeding up elections for people and votes.
It is worth noting that an agreement was reached by the leaders of the National Consultative Council that the local council elections will be held in June, while the regional government elections will be held in September.
There are only two sessions left in the parliamentary mandate of four years, consisting of 8 sessions.
