MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – Today, two forced displacement attacks were carried out in the neighborhoods of Warlalis in Dayniile District and Soonakey in Hodan District, specifically targeting local residents.
First Attack: Warlalis
Early this morning, nearly sixty technical vehicles carrying mixed police and military forces were deployed in the Warlalis neighborhood of Dayniile. These forces removed hundreds of young people from their homes, blindfolded them, and transported them to assembly locations.
It has been confirmed that some children were subjected to torture and beatings, although some later managed to escape.
After learning about the displacement, local residents attempted to resist. The forces responded by opening live fire directly at civilians. The death toll is reported to be around 10 people, four of whom were struck by bullets inside their homes.
Sixteen people were injured, many of them children, and were taken to medical facilities. Roads were reportedly blocked to prevent injured people from fleeing.
This land-grabbing operation is alleged to have been carried out on behalf of paid politicians and business interests. It is claimed that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Minister Ahmed Fiqi, and Director Mahad Salad were involved, while businessmen Gallad and Abdullahi Wardheere allegedly purchased the confiscated land. As a result, many civilians, including children, were injured.
Second Attack: Soonakey
In Hodan District, particularly the Soonakey neighborhood, a similar land-grabbing operation took place this morning, led by Governor Ali Fahle and Mooryaan Yare. The attack targeted residents who legally own their land, allegedly attempting to exploit the chaos in Dayniile to displace people in Hodan. This led to further protests in the area.
Today’s events are described as a clan-based assault, seemingly intended to forcibly displace a specific clan under the name of the government and police forces. During these incidents, children and women who were protesting were reportedly killed.
Local and international human rights organizations are urgently called upon to take immediate action regarding these events, particularly to protect children and innocent civilians, whose blood is now being spilled in the streets.
