The Turkish government has denied reports circulated on social media and by some news outlets claiming that Somalia had imposed visa restrictions on Turkish citizens.
Ankara said the reports were baseless and without foundation.
Turkey’s department responsible for combating disinformation stated that there has been no change to the travel system or visa requirements between Somalia and Turkey, noting that citizens of both countries are still operating under the previous visa arrangement, with no new restrictions having been imposed.
The Turkish government also said that the reports claiming Somalia had barred Turkish citizens from obtaining visas were misleading information, accusing the spread of such reports of potentially harming the strategic relationship between the two countries.
Finally, the Turkish government’s statement noted that relations between Somalia and Turkey have continued to strengthen in recent years, with the two governments maintaining long-standing cooperation across various sectors
