MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – The Federal Government of Somalia has announced a delay in the budgetary aid it usually receives from Turkey, with the Minister of Finance confirming that the funds have not yet been received this year.

Bihi Iman Cige, Somalia’s Minister of Finance, told the media that Turkey, one of Somalia’s longstanding key partners, has not yet disbursed its annual budgetary support, even as the year draws to a close.

“Turkey has consistently provided budgetary support in previous years,” Cige said.

“This year’s support, which amounted to 30 million dollars, has been delayed. Unlike previous years, the funds have not been released on time,” he added.

The minister noted that Somalia has largely relied on other international partners for budgetary support this year, including the European Union, the United Nations, and several friendly countries.

The delay has raised questions about why Turkey—one of Somalia’s most important partners in development, security, and humanitarian aid—has not yet provided the financial assistance it usually gives to the Somali government.

The finance minister’s statement comes as this year’s federal budget, which exceeds one billion dollars, is still awaiting parliamentary approval.

Somalia continues to face significant economic challenges affecting both the federal government and regional states, highlighting the urgent need for external budgetary support.
