Minnesota (Kaab TV) — U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that large-scale corruption allegedly involving Somali individuals living in the state of Minnesota may be far greater than what investigators have uncovered so far.
President Trump said that existing reports indicate that $19 billion was stolen, but that the actual amount could reach as high as $50 billion, since what has been discovered so far may be only a small portion of what truly occurred.
Trump made these remarks to reporters while aboard Air Force One as he was returning to Washington, D.C., after spending the Christmas and New Year holidays at Mar-a-Lago.
He said that when figures like $19 billion are mentioned, it often means the real number is even higher, describing the amounts involved as extremely large and unusual.
The president stated that those involved in the corruption directly stole from American taxpayers and that strong action must be taken. He called for all individuals involved in these acts to be deported from the United States.
Trump also specifically criticized Minnesota Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, accusing her of being part of the corruption and among those leading it. He described her as corrupt.
Finally, Trump made it clear that the U.S. government would no longer provide these funds, saying that “the days of easily taking money are over.” He added that the government would not give money to these individuals and would also stop sending funds to states such as California and Illinois.
