Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Prolonged heavy rainfall in Mogadishu has resulted in the deaths of two people and caused significant damage to major roads across the city.
According to the Banadir Region district administration, the victims—a mother and her child—lost their lives when their home collapsed in the Hamar Jajab District. Authorities are still conducting inspections to assess the full extent of the damage in affected areas.
The downpour lasted for over eight hours, rendering several key roads impassable and severely disrupting public and transport services. Among the hardest-hit areas are roads recently constructed by the Banadir Regional Administration, particularly in Howlwadaag District. Reports from this morning indicate that some roads are submerged, with waterlogged streets forcing traffic to divert through residential neighborhoods.
In response, the Banadir Regional Administration has urged residents to avoid flooded areas and has directed all district governors to assist those affected—especially families living in older or vulnerable homes.
