Ankara (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport of Somalia Mohamud Aden Gesood received the Turkish Ambassador to the Republic of Somalia Amb; Alper Aktaş.
The two officials discussed plans to support the reconstruction and development of Somalia’s ports, especially those recovering from the destruction caused by the wars and the difficult conditions in the country.
The Turkish Ambassador confirmed that his government is ready to support Somalia in achieving the goals of port development, using Turkey’s experience and techniques related to port management.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that the Ministries of Ports in Turkey and Somalia should strengthen cooperation, to improve the country’s port infrastructure, including the modernization of port equipment, staff training, and technical support in terms of port management and operations.
The meeting was attended by Ahmet Sami, one of the management of Albayrak Company, a Turkish company responsible for the development of Mogadishu port.
The Minister of Ports of Somalia, MP Mohamud Aden Geesood welcomed Turkey’s support and commitments related to the development of Somali ports, noting that this support is important for the recovery of the country’s economy and the reconstruction of the important infrastructure of the ports, which have a great impact on the flow of trade and the economy of the region.
