Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The People’s Assembly of the Federal Republic of Somalia reconvened today following a brief suspension that had sparked controversy and a formal motion against the Speaker of the House, Aden Madobe.
The disruption came shortly after Speaker Madobe suspended 24 Members of Parliament for allegedly causing chaos during a parliamentary session. The suspension heightened internal tensions within the House. However, First Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Abshirow later issued a letter allowing the suspended MPs to return and participate in parliamentary proceedings.
Adding to the unrest, Speaker Madobe recently revoked the parliamentary immunity of MP Mohamed Abib, citing his repeated absences from parliamentary sessions as justification for the decision.
These developments have contributed to a growing political crisis in Somalia. A significant number of MPs are now campaigning for the removal of Speaker Madobe, accusing him of aligning the parliament too closely with Villa Somalia—the seat of the executive branch.
