MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – Somaliland has expressed support for the action taken by U.S. forces in arresting the former President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, describing it as a step toward restoring the rule of law in that country.

In an official press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somaliland formally declared its support for the United States, characterizing the move led by former President Trump as an effort to restore constitutional order, democracy, and the supremacy of the law in Venezuela.

Somaliland stated that it believes U.S.-led actions could help reduce the humanitarian crisis, combat transnational criminal networks, and support a peaceful, Venezuelan-led political transition.

The statement further noted that Somaliland views these efforts as consistent with international law and collective security principles, while also strengthening respect for human rights, accountability, and Venezuela’s national sovereignty.

Somaliland’s support comes amid recent reports claiming that Venezuelan authorities, including the former president, had been detained by U.S. forces—reports that have triggered mixed reactions from the international community.

It is noteworthy that Venezuela has been among the countries that openly opposed the recognition of Somaliland. Since yesterday, Somaliland citizens have been circulating on social media a statement in which the Venezuelan government expressed support for Somalia’s sovereignty.

Somaliland recently received official recognition from Israel, a close ally of the United States, and has stated that it is also seeking recognition from the U.S. Somaliland’s support for Maduro’s arrest reflects its desire to strengthen its relations with Washington.

United States (Kaab TV) – The U.S. government has seized a vessel for the second time after it departed from Venezuela, according to a preliminary report released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding the planned operation.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently ordered increased targeting of vessels coming from or traveling to Venezuela, with the aim of preventing drugs from entering the United States from that direction, as he stated.

The U.S. Coast Guard said it has made several attempts to intercept various Venezuelan vessels, adding that Washington is focusing on reaching what it described as the final objective of these operations.

The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem—whose department oversees the Coast Guard—shared footage of the operation on her X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by brief information about the mission.
