According to information obtained about the meeting, the discussions centred on the reported deaths of the 13 people, who were allegedly killed in a Turkish military airstrike along the Nugaal coast.

Islaan Ciise reportedly urged the federal government to pursue accountability, ensure justice for the victims and protect the rights of their bereaved families.

The incident has heightened concerns over civilian safety along Puntland’s coastline, particularly among fishing communities whose livelihoods depend on access to the sea.

The circumstances surrounding the reported strike, including the identities of those killed and the precise events leading to their deaths, require independent verification.

Puntland’s administration has previously said the victims were civilian fishermen and accused Turkish forces of carrying out an attack that killed people who were not involved in fighting.

The allegations have raised questions about the protection of civilians, the conduct of military operations and whether a credible investigation will establish responsibility for the deaths.

The meeting comes amid calls for the federal authorities to address the incident and ensure that the victims’ families receive justice.

No further details were provided about any specific commitments made during the discussions or whether an investigation has been formally agreed upon.
