Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – Recently, a short audio clip impersonating Senator Abdirahman Faroole, a member of the Upper House of the Somali Parliament, was circulated on social media.

The audio, which spread widely, claimed that the senator made remarks in Kismayo saying, “There must be fighting in Mogadishu.” However, the recording was fabricated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Within two days, the audio was played up to 2 million times on Facebook.

Following an investigation, the Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS) announced that the audio recording was fake.
