Puntland has issued a strong warning to the neighboring Galmudug administration against allowing military supplies or armed personnel intended to destabilize Puntland to pass through airports or areas under Galmudug’s control.

In a statement released by the Puntland Presidency, the regional administration called on Galmudug to prevent its territory and airports from being used to transport military equipment or militias allegedly destined for operations against Puntland.

“Puntland calls on Galmudug to refrain from allowing military equipment and militias to pass through the airports and territories under its administration, where the objective is to harm the people of Puntland,” the statement said.

Puntland said it had formally brought the warning to the attention of the international community, underscoring what it described as growing security concerns along its border with Galmudug.

The statement also asserted that the Puntland Security Force (PSF) is a legally recognized unit within Puntland’s defense forces.

It further claimed that there are separate federal government forces operating in the region alongside the Federal Government of Somalia, highlighting what Puntland described as the distinction between its own official security forces and troops affiliated with Mogadishu.

The warning comes amid escalating tensions between Puntland and Somalia’s Federal Government, with the regional administration repeatedly accusing Mogadishu of attempting to undermine Puntland’s security through military deployments and support for rival forces.
