Parliamentary sources say most MPs have either left Mogadishu or are unwilling to attend the session, expressing frustration with Speaker Aden Madobe, who has repeatedly blocked motions submitted by opposition members.

Although Somali MPs are funded through Western taxpayers’ money, this parliament has achieved little.

Some observers even describe it as the worst-performing parliament in Somalia’s history.

The House resumed its meetings last month after a one-month delay that disrupted its planned legislative sessions for this term.

Since then, more than two scheduled sittings have been cancelled due to a lack of quorum.

The Office of the Speaker has not yet commented on the matter.
