According to multiple sources who spoke to the media, senior federal government officials and top security commanders have held a series of meetings in recent hours focused on strengthening security measures and preparing for possible unrest linked to the planned protests.

At the same time, prominent opposition figures have reportedly established themselves in different parts of the capital to intensify preparations for the demonstrations. Among those involved are former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.

The Somali federal government has also deployed security forces trained in crowd control and protest management, similar to previous security operations carried out in Mogadishu during politically sensitive periods.

Residents of the capital are closely following the parallel meetings and escalating political standoff between the government and opposition groups. While the government is reportedly seeking to prevent the demonstrations from taking place, opposition leaders insist they will proceed with the planned protests.

The latest developments come amid broader disagreements over Somalia’s political direction, electoral process, constitutional issues, and accusations from opposition groups that the government is attempting to sideline rival political stakeholders.
