The training focused on promoting social integration and strengthening peaceful coexistence, particularly among young people who had returned from displacement or were living in vulnerable conditions.

Its primary objective was to build youth confidence, encourage teamwork, and enhance their active participation in the development of their communities.

Abdicasiis Duule of the COFP Peace Foundation emphasized that youth integration and awareness-raising are fundamental pillars of peace and sustainable development. He highlighted the importance of supporting young people in accessing entrepreneurial opportunities so they can become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.

The training, titled “From Displacement to Opportunity: Advancing Youth Reintegration, Livelihoods, and Social Cohesion,” provided a platform for participants to jointly examine key challenges, including psychological trauma resulting from displacement, limited access to quality education, and the shortage of employment opportunities.

Special emphasis was placed on the understanding that youth are not the problem, but rather an essential part of the solution.

Participants gained critical skills in leadership, effective communication, conflict resolution, and small business development. These skills are expected to empower them to serve as peace ambassadors within their communities, promoting unity, collaboration, and mutual understanding.

Mustafa Ahmed Abdullahi, Director of the Jubaland Refugees and IDPs Agency (JUCRI), noted that the program serves as a strong example of the importance of genuinely investing in young people’s potential and capabilities so they can become community leaders.

He underscored that investments and trainings of this kind help build resilient communities founded on trust and cooperation.

The program concluded with sporting activities held under the theme “Youth Reintegration and Social Cohesion,” symbolizing unity, solidarity, and the shared hope of a brighter future built by ambitious and united young people.
