Large numbers of commuters were seen walking along major highways and roads across the country. Some residents criticized the government for failing to respond adequately to complaints from transport operators, who are demanding stronger measures to control fuel prices.

Among the roads heavily affected were Thika Road, Waiyaki Way, Jogoo Road, Mombasa Road and Outer Ring Road, where many commuters were left with no choice but to walk long distances to reach their workplaces and attend to personal matters.

The committee representing Kenya’s transport operators said the strike would continue until the government takes action to stabilize fuel prices. The group also urged the public to increase pressure on the authorities to address the crisis.

Major bus terminals and transport stations, which are usually crowded with passengers and vehicles, remained packed with stranded commuters despite the absence of public service vehicles. While some people chose to continue their journeys on foot, others remained at the stations hoping transport services would resume.
