The raids took place on Saturday in Ambouli and Djebel, beginning at around 6 a.m. They were conducted by the Judicial Group of the National Gendarmerie, supported by the Mobile Gendarmerie.

Officers searched several residences that authorities had identified as locations where people suspected of irregular residence were staying.

Those detained received humanitarian assistance before being transported by gendarmerie vehicles to the border, ADI reported.

The agency did not disclose the nationalities of those detained or specify the border crossing used for their removal.

Djibouti occupies a strategic position along migration routes connecting the Horn of Africa with Yemen and the Gulf region.

Migrants from across the region travel through the country in hopes of reaching destinations in the Arabian Peninsula, often undertaking dangerous journeys across the Gulf of Aden by boat or overland.
