The Banadir Regional Education Directorate has officially released the results of the 2025/2026 Grade 8 national certificate examinations, ending weeks of anticipation among students, parents and education stakeholders across Mogadishu.

A total of 45,452 students sat for the examinations at 125 examination centers across Banadir. The candidates included 24,717 boys and 21,508 girls, according to figures released by the education authorities.

Of those who took the examinations, 44,017 students passed, while 1,435 students failed.

The Directorate also announced the three students who achieved the highest overall results. Sumayo Hassan Abshir Adan secured first place, followed by Balqiisa Mohamed Omar Mohamed in second place, while Ahmed Abdinasir Abdullahi Abdi finished third.

The achievement of the top-performing students has drawn attention from the local community, with congratulations being extended to the students, their parents and the teachers who supported them throughout the academic year.

Their performance is also being viewed as a reflection of the continued efforts by schools, teachers and families to improve educational outcomes in the capital.

The Grade 8 examination is an important milestone for students because it marks their transition from middle-level education to the next stage of their studies.

The release of the results therefore carries significance not only for the successful students but also for parents and schools assessing academic performance and preparing students for the next level of education.

The results also provide the education authorities with an opportunity to assess the overall performance of students across Banadir and identify areas where additional support may be needed, particularly for students who did not pass the examinations.
