Baghdad (KAAB TV) – An unidentified drone struck a radar installation at Iraq’s Taji military base, located approximately 30 kilometers (18 miles) north of Baghdad, early Tuesday morning, according to the Iraqi state news agency (INA), citing a senior military official.

The incident occurred without causing any casualties, Baghdad Operations Command confirmed. The drone reportedly targeted a radar system used by the Iraqi Army for air defense monitoring. Initial assessments suggest limited material damage, though a full investigation is underway to determine the extent of the impact and the source of the drone.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, similar drone incursions in recent months have raised concerns about regional tensions and the growing use of unmanned aerial systems in asymmetric warfare. Taji base has previously hosted both Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition forces, and it remains a strategically significant military installation.

Authorities have increased aerial surveillance around the base and neighboring areas as a precaution. Security analysts warn that such incidents could signal a new wave of provocations targeting Iraqi military infrastructure amid ongoing instability in parts of the country.

Further details are expected as the investigation develops.
