GAROWE (KAAB TV) – Puntland police have arrested a 31-year-old suspect, Sharmake Hussein Yusuf, in connection with the rape of two underprivileged girls.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of May 11, around 4:00 AM, in the Boray neighborhood on the southeastern outskirts of Garowe.
The victims were found shortly afterward, having reportedly suffered severe sexual assault.
Sharmake Hussein Yusuf was apprehended during a coordinated police operation while he was inside a vehicle believed to have been used in the crime.
Authorities also seized two vehicles suspected of involvement in the incident.
Yusuf, who faces charges of kidnapping, torture, and rape, is currently being held at the West Police Station in Garowe.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to gather all evidence required for prosecution.
