Washington (KAAB TV) – Somalia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dahir Hassan Abdi, welcomed the head of the Eritrean Embassy in Washington, Berhane Solomon, at the Somali Embassy. The meeting centered on enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations and addressing key developments in the Horn of Africa.

During their discussions, both diplomats emphasized the deep historical ties between Somalia and Eritrea. They underscored the importance of continued cooperation for the region’s stability, economic development, and security.

In recent years, the two countries have worked closely together, fostering efforts to promote peace and prosperity in the Horn of Africa.

One of the key topics covered was the shifting dynamics in the Horn of Africa. Considering the region’s complex security challenges and growing economic influence, the diplomats explored ways to bolster diplomatic and security collaboration.

The role of regional organizations such as the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in advancing peace and development was also acknowledged.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted potential business and investment opportunities. Both sides expressed a shared interest in deepening economic ties, focusing on trade cooperation, infrastructure development, and trade facilitation.
