The clan elders of the Sool, Sanaag and Ceyn have asked Somaliland authorities to withdraw its forces from the Laascaanood city before any mediation talks could start, a statement by the clan elders said.
The elders, however, welcomes the ceasefire announcement by the Somaliland authorities on Friday. “it should not be based on political maneuvering,” they said in the press release sent to the newsrooms.
Earlier, Somaliland accused that some terrorist groups were among the pro-SSC fighters in Laascaanood. But the Dhulbahante clan elders demanded Somaliland officials to retract their statement calling it “baseless.
They called the members of the international community to observe and ensure the immediate withdrawal of the Somaliland army from the Laascaanood city.
