BAIDOA (KAAB TV) – The South West State government of Somalia has announced a significant military victory against the Al-Shabaab militant group following intense fighting in the Sabeed and Canole areas of the Lower Shabelle region.
Deputy Minister of Security for the South West Regional Administration, Mohamed Yusuf, held a press conference in Baidoa where he confirmed that the government forces successfully disrupted Al-Shabaab’s operations and gathering points in the targeted areas.
According to the minister, dozens of Al-Shabaab fighters were killed during the operation, and efforts are ongoing to pursue remaining militants believed to be hiding in the rural areas surrounding Sabeed and Canole.
Minister Yusuf emphasized that the fight against Al-Shabaab will continue relentlessly until the group is fully eradicated from South West territories. He also called on local residents to work closely with security forces to ensure the long-term stability and safety of the region.
Both the Federal Government of Somalia and the South West State administration have declared the operation a decisive success, stating that Al-Shabaab suffered a major defeat in the battle that extended into the previous night.
