Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia has successfully concluded a comprehensive three-day training programme aimed at enhancing the investigative capacity and legal compliance expertise of its staff.
The initiative represents a significant step forward in strengthening institutional accountability, transparency, and the protection of public resources across Somalia’s public sector.
The training workshop, held in Mogadishu, brought together over 30 officers from the Legal Compliance and Investigation Department.
This specialized department is tasked with auditing and monitoring public institutions to ensure their compliance with Somalia’s legal frameworks, financial regulations, and ethical standards in the management of public funds.
According to an official statement released by the Office of the Auditor General, the programme was carefully designed to build the professional competencies of investigators by equipping them with modern investigative techniques, legal analysis skills, and a deeper understanding of financial oversight mechanisms.
Participants received instruction on key topics such as forensic auditing, legal frameworks governing public finance, evidence collection and analysis, as well as reporting and enforcement procedures.
Auditor General Ahmed Isse Gutale addressed the participants at the closing session, commending their dedication and commitment to public service.
He emphasized the critical role that accountability plays in nation-building and urged the trainees to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to uphold the highest standards of integrity, diligence, and professionalism.
“You are not only protecting public finances, but also defending the public trust,” said Auditor General Gutale. “Our citizens deserve transparency and responsibility in the management of national resources, and it is your duty to ensure these principles are upheld in every audit and investigation you undertake.”
The Office further reaffirmed its commitment to institutional capacity development, pledging to continue implementing regular training and professional development programmes.
These efforts are intended to ensure that all staff remain equipped to meet the demands of modern financial governance, particularly as Somalia integrates new technologies and reforms into its public financial management systems.
This initiative aligns with broader national and international goals to combat corruption, promote good governance, and build resilient public institutions capable of supporting sustainable development.
By investing in human capital and reinforcing institutional frameworks, the Office of the Auditor General aims to be at the forefront of Somalia’s journey toward transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.
