Somalia Strongly Condemns Iran’s Strike on U.S. Base in Qatar

Mogadishu, Somalia (Kaab TV) –  Somalia has issued a strong condemnation of Iran’s recent missile strike targeting a U.S. military base in the State of Qatar.

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Somalia described the attack as a “heinous act of aggression” and expressed its deep concern over the escalation.

Iran launched a volley of missiles—estimated between 6 and 19—in retaliation for recent U.S. airstrikes on its nuclear facilities, targeting the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday night.

According to Qatari authorities, the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted the majority of the missiles, with only one reportedly hitting a non-sensitive area of the base.

No casualties or significant damage were reported.

Somalia reaffirmed its unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar, which it referred to as a “sisterly state.”

The statement stressed the importance of upholding international law, particularly those provisions related to the protection of civilians and the assurance of regional security.

Qatar has been supporter of Somalia and has been closely connected to various politicians in the country.

“The Federal Republic of Somalia condemns and denounces, in the strongest terms, the heinous act of aggression launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the sisterly State of Qatar,” the statement read, highlighting the need for adherence to international norms and stability in the Gulf region.

Somalia also expressed full support for Qatar’s right to take necessary measures to safeguard its security and protect the well-being of its people and resources.

This development comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf, following a series of retaliatory actions and threats between Iran and the United States.
