Somalia South West State Announces List of Newly Appointed Members of Parliament

Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – The electoral committee recently appointed by the President of South West State, Abdiaziz Laftagareen, announced tonight the list of newly selected members of parliament for the regional administration.

The new parliament consists of 95 members, who are said to have been selected from the various clans residing in South West State. These members are scheduled to elect their parliamentary leadership on the 29th of this month.

The announcement comes at a time of rising tensions between the towns of Baidoa and Buurhakaba, involving forces aligned with the South West State administration and the Federal Government of Somalia.

Federal government troops, along with forces loyal to opposition politicians known as the “South West Salvation” group, are reportedly seeking to take control of Baidoa, which remains the only city currently under the administration of President Laftagareen.
