The Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned threats issued by Yemen’s Houthi movement against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, warning that actions targeting regional security and international shipping pose a serious risk to stability in the Red Sea and surrounding waters.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Somalia denounced the threats directed at Saudi Arabia and condemned any actions that undermine maritime security, freedom of navigation, and the safety of international trade.
The ministry emphasized that secure sea lanes are essential for regional stability and the global economy.
The Somali government reaffirmed its commitment to the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of all states, stressing the importance of respecting international law and resolving disputes through peaceful means.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Red Sea following recent warnings by the Houthi group and growing international concern over the security of one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes.
Several governments have cautioned that continued threats to commercial shipping could disrupt global trade and energy supplies.
Somalia has consistently expressed support for international efforts aimed at safeguarding maritime security in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, waterways that are strategically important for global commerce and regional economic stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not announce any additional measures but reiterated Somalia’s support for efforts to preserve peace, protect international navigation, and uphold the principles of international law.
