Somalia, Arab League Deepen Cooperation in Education, Economy, and State-Building

MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre held a high-level meeting today in Mogadishu with a visiting delegation from the Arab League, underscoring the deepening ties and strategic cooperation between Somalia and the regional bloc.

During the meeting, discussions centered on enhancing collaboration in key sectors such as diplomacy, education, governance, economic development, and debt relief.

Prime Minister Barre briefed the delegation on Somalia’s ongoing progress in strengthening security, advancing electoral processes, and rebuilding national institutions.

The Arab League delegation, led by Zayd Al-Sabbaan, Director of the Horn of Africa and Sudan Department, praised Somalia’s achievements and reaffirmed the League’s commitment to supporting the country’s development goals.

One of the major initiatives highlighted was a large-scale project led by the Arab League aimed at developing Arabic language education and improving Somalia’s national curriculum.

This project is part of broader efforts to rebuild Somalia’s educational infrastructure and promote cultural and linguistic ties with the Arab world.

The Arab League emphasized its continued support for Somalia’s political and economic stability, as well as its efforts in state-building and institutional reform.

Both parties expressed mutual interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation to promote peace, development, and regional integration.

Somalia remains a key member of the Arab League, and the organization continues to play a vital role in supporting the country’s recovery and reintegration into regional and international frameworks.
