Somalia and Saudi Arabia Discussed The Situation of Somalis In Saudi Arabia

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Justice of Somalia, Hassan Macallin Mohamud, held a meeting in his office with the ambassador of the Saudi government to Somalia, Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Muwalad.

This meeting discussed the cooperation in the fields of justice and the judiciary between the Saudi and Somali governments, especially the recent situation of Somali citizens who were sentenced to death by Saudi courts.

Somalia’s Minister of Justice has conveyed to the Saudi ambassador his concerns about the number of Somali citizens who have been sentenced to death.

The minister shared with the ambassador the desire of the Somali government to discuss the legal conditions of those citizens, and for the justice ministries of the two countries to sign cooperation agreements on the judiciary. The purpose of these agreements is to resolve such situations, to speed up the exchange of accused and convicts on both sides.

The Saudi ambassador, Al-Muwalad, shared with the Minister of Justice how he regretted the new situation, and also mentioned his government’s commitment to work with the Somali government, especially the justice institutions, to cooperate in the above-mentioned areas.
