Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, met with Dr. Badar Abdel Atty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, while discussing the strengthening of regional stability and the strengthening of deep cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting that took place in Cairo focused on the acceleration of the AUSSOM mission and supporting the efforts of the Somali National Army (SNA) in the fight against terrorism. The two ministers praised the visit of the Somali defense minister to Egypt, pointing out that it is a good step taken for strong cooperation.
Dr. Abdel Atty once again affirmed that Egypt is relentlessly supporting the unity, independence, and stability of Somalia. He stressed the importance of joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, and promised to continue technical assistance to strengthen Somalia’s development and security efforts.
The two ministers agreed to promote cooperation through the joint committee of ministers and to implement the important points that emerged from the meeting between Egypt and Somalia and Eritrea in 2024. These plans aim to improve security and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, addressing shared challenges and fostering regional integration.
