Baku, Azerbaijan (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Abdi Khair, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Majnun Mammadov, during an official visit to Baku. The agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of agricultural development.
The MoU outlines collaborative efforts in agricultural investment, the exchange of advanced irrigation and electrification technologies, joint research projects, and the promotion of agricultural trade between the two nations. This partnership is part of Somalia’s broader strategy to boost domestic food production by integrating modern technology and international expertise.
During the visit, Minister Khair and his delegation toured several of Azerbaijan’s agricultural research centers, including facilities specializing in soil science and agricultural chemistry. Azerbaijan’s leadership in agricultural innovation positions it as a valuable strategic partner in Somalia’s efforts to modernize its agricultural sector and strengthen national food security.
Diplomatic ties between Somalia and Azerbaijan have deepened in recent years, reflecting mutual interests in economic cooperation and technological exchange. As Somalia continues to rebuild and advance its agricultural infrastructure, Azerbaijan’s experience in agricultural technology and research presents significant opportunities for growth.
