KISMAYO (KAAB TV) – The Federal Government of Somalia, in coordination with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), has conducted an aerial strike approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Kismayo, in the Lower Juba region.

The operation specifically targeted members of the Al-Shabaab militant group, who are accused of orchestrating and carrying out terrorist attacks against Somali civilians, national security forces, and international allies supporting Somalia’s stability.

According to a statement released by the Somali Federal Government, the strike is part of ongoing joint efforts to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities. The government emphasized that the operation highlights the effectiveness of ongoing security cooperation between Somalia and its international partners.

The Somali government expressed gratitude to AFRICOM for the mission and reaffirmed its commitment to combating extremist groups that continue to endanger the lives of Somali citizens.

To date, the United States has conducted more than 25 strikes in Somalia this year, targeting both Al-Shabaab and ISIS-affiliated militants.

In a recent development, U.S. officials have announced they will no longer publicly disclose the financial cost of their military operations in Somalia.
