JOWHAR (KAAB TV) – The Somali National Army, with support from local communities, launched a coordinated air and ground assault last night targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Shabelle region. The operation focused on areas where the Al-Shabaab fighters were hiding, successfully regaining control of these regions and ensuring the safety of the local population.

According to Somali National Television, the operation resulted in the deaths of several Al-Shabaab militants, although the official number of casualties has not been disclosed. The specific locations targeted in the offensive were not revealed.

“XDS and allied forces are advancing from multiple directions, conducting clearing operations in areas previously held by the Khawarij. The coordinated attack has been successful, with security forces pushing back the militants and reclaiming territory they once controlled,” the report stated.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts to counter Al-Shabaab, which has been active in the region for years, aiming to destabilize the local population. Military officials confirmed that the operation is still underway, with both ground and air forces working to eliminate the threat posed by the militant group.

The XDS forces have called on civilians to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces as efforts continue to secure Middle Shabelle and prevent further militia attacks.
