Lower Shabelle (KAAB TV) – The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with the Wanlaweyn District Police, has launched a large-scale security operation across several areas within the Wanlaweyn District in the Lower Shabelle region. The aim of the operation is to disrupt and prevent activities by the terrorist group Al-Shabaab (AS).

The operation was spearheaded by units from the 64th Brigade of the 7th Division, part of the 12th April Command, with the support of the Wanlaweyn District Police under the leadership of District Police Commander Abdulle Isaaq.

Security forces targeted the areas of Tabeella, Sharay, Warmahan, Tihsiile, and Warabole, where they reportedly destroyed multiple Al-Shabaab bases used for planning and coordinating attacks.

Commanders overseeing the operation confirmed that several planned attacks were thwarted and that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend Al-Shabaab operatives in the region.

The Wanlaweyn Police Command noted strong support from the local community and urged continued cooperation to ensure lasting peace and security.

Both the Federal Government of Somalia and local communities have intensified efforts to combat terrorism and prevent further Al-Shabaab activity across the region.
