Mogadishu (Kaab TV) — MP Daahir Aamiin Jeesow, a member of Somalia’s Federal Parliament, has accused government forces of killing children and women in the village of Yaaq-Bariweyne, near the Wanlaweyn district in the Lower Shabelle region.
MP Jeesow stated that government soldiers—specifically those from the 7th Battalion led by Ahmed Gaashaan—killed five people in Yaaq-Bariweyne yesterday. Among the victims, he said, were two children between the ages of three and ten, as well as a schoolteacher.
He also reported that four women were injured in the incident and transported to Mogadishu for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Somali National Army’s 7th Battalion stated that during their operation in Yaaq-Bariweyne yesterday, they killed and arrested several men whom they described as operators of illegal checkpoints.
Recently, two clan militias clashed in the Wanlaweyn district of Lower Shabelle, committing brutal acts. Several men accused of involvement in those incidents were subsequently sentenced to death.
