Somali Government Has Launched A Military Campaign Against Al-Shabaab

BELEDWEYNE (KAAB TV) – The Federal Government of Somalia has launched a campaign to target Al-Shabaab in several areas of the country mostly the preparations of the war being felt intensely in the Hiran region.

Officials have confirmed that a large-scale operation is being planned to eliminate Al-Shabaab from the areas where they are still strong in the Hiran region, a region where they have already taken over parts of the region.

The officers of the armed forces in the area said that this operation is important to ensure security and clean up the remnants of Al-Shabaab.

The government has called on the local people living in the affected regions to help the military forces in the fight against the extremist group, which for a long time ruled many parts of the southern and central regions of Somalia.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Somalia, Brigadier General Abukar Mohamed Hassan, confirmed the large-scale operation, asking the public to stand by the country’s armed forces to carry out the offensive against the armed groups.

These operations follow several previous military operations in which the government succeeded in recapturing several areas previously controlled by Al-Shabaab.

This new offensive comes at a time when previous efforts have faced setbacks and the government wants to completely eliminate the threat of militias in the region.
