KISMAYO (KAAB TV) – Somali government forces, including the elite Danab Commandos with support from the Jubbaland Dervish units, have carried out a successful counter-terrorism operation resulting in the deaths of more than 48 Al-Shabaab militants.

The operation took place on the outskirts of Barjala in the Lower Jubba region. According to a statement from the Federal Government, the operation was carefully planned and effectively executed, targeting key strategic positions used by the militant group.

“This tactically executed operation dismantled key strategic positions of the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) in the area, which were vital for their coordination and militant activities. More than 48 members of the Khawarij were killed, and two others were captured alive,” the statement read.

During the operation, Somali forces also seized a significant cache of weapons, including assault rifles such as BKM and AK-47s, along with other military supplies critical to Al-Shabaab’s operations.

This latest offensive comes amid intensified military campaigns by Somali forces across several regions, aimed at weakening the group’s presence and disrupting their activities.
