Geelgub (KAAB TV) – On Wednesday morning, Somali armed forces, with the support of local residents, carried out a planned military operation in the Geel-gub area of the Middle Shabelle region, an area previously under the control of the Al-Shabaab militant group.
The allied forces launched coordinated attacks from multiple directions in the El Gub area, where Al-Shabaab fighters were stationed, successfully driving the militants out of the region.
According to statements from army officers and local leaders, the operation resulted in the capture of El Gub, inflicting significant losses on the Al-Shabaab group. The forces continue to pursue the remaining militants.
In a related development, the Somali National Army, along with local communities, has intensified operations against Al-Shabaab. Just the previous day, Somali forces engaged in a fierce battle with Al-Shabaab fighters and launched an attack on the Aboorey area in the Hiran region.
