|

Ruun-Nirgood (KAAB TV) – Somali Defense Forces, supported by local militias, have reportedly retaken control of the Ruun-Nirgood district in the Middle Shabelle region today. The operation was launched this morning with a significant military assault targeting members of the Al-Shabaab militant group who had a presence in the area.

According to local residents, Somali troops are currently conducting security operations throughout the district to restore order. The forces have also expanded their presence to the outskirts of the district, advancing towards other areas, including Hilowle Gaab, near Ruun-Nirgood.

While the military initially made significant inroads into the district, there were reports of a temporary withdrawal before the Al-Shabaab militants were once again forced to retreat. The situation remains tense as ongoing heavy military operations continue across many parts of the Middle Shabelle region.
