Middle Shabelle (Kaab TV) – The Federal Government of Somalia has intensified operations against Al-Shabaab in areas of the Hirshabelle State, particularly in the Middle Shabelle region, in an effort to prevent the group from regrouping in those locations.
In recent hours, areas within the Middle Shabelle region have witnessed military operations involving both airstrikes and ground assaults carried out by federal security forces, with support from allied countries providing aerial attack capabilities.
The Somali National Army Command has increased the deployment of federal forces operating in the Middle Shabelle region this week to counter the pressure exerted by Al-Shabaab on key strategic areas of the region.
Al-Shabaab’s objective is reported to be the disruption of coordination between allied forces operating in the Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions. In response, the Federal Government has concentrated its efforts on keeping these vital supply and communication routes open.
